Inspection Chargeback

June 6th, 2011 → 11:54 am @

Chargebacks are deductions from inspector’s payments.  Chargebacks often are intended as punishment.

Some reasons companies often use chargebacks are:

  • company could not contact inspector
  • contractor does not return work or return calls in a timely manner

Companies that chargeback at higher amounts than the original fee the inspector would have received state:

  • that the inspection had to be reassigned to another inspector at a cost higher than the norm because of a urgency to meet the clients turnaround time
  • a chargeback compensates the company for any lost revenue resulting from inspectors late return of results
