What this book will do for you
This e-book will open your eyes and force you to really consider if the mortgage field services business would be right for you. It will guide you through assessing your ability to work in the unique atmosphere of field services. The e-book also tries to prepare you for the everyday realities of actually doing the job.
Assuming you wish to continue reading, you will be given information you need to know before you ever attempt to contact anyone for assignments. Then, various types of field service assignments are discussed which should help you identify the field services that will best fit your needs and your character.
After reading this e-book, you can be confident that you can safely proceed if you choose to do so.
You will understand the different categories of services you can offer and the specific types of services within those categories. Hopefully you will begin to get a feel for the types of services you would enjoy and begin your list of those that best fits your needs.
I avoid extensive discussion on the various types of services because there really is not much need. The actual work of an independent field service rep is “falling down simple”. Each type of service is not much more than “meet, greet, look, listen and report”. The real difficulties arise when service reps are not aware of the unique environment of this type of work and the more serious problems that normally come about because someone up the line missed a step or, even worse – gave you bad information because they didn’t know the whole story themselves. So, I dwell on what you should question and what you can take for granted (which is very little).
Most responses I get from others that have used my e-book state that the reader felt the e-book could be properly classified as a quick start guide for those starting in the business. That may be so but I prefer to think of the e-book as my own version of “Paranoia Extreme”. I think you are best prepared if you trust no one’s work but your own. You have to dedicate yourself to learning everything you can about this business, the laws and the players because many of the services you can perform can lead you into some real ugly situations.
You will know how to research and choose the right companies to work with. You will discover the many opportunities most companies and other contractors will never tell you about.
My e-book tells the pros and cons of the business. You will not like some of what you read in the manual. Some of you may very well decide you want no part of the field services business after reading some of the information. Some of you will take the information and run with it – there is enough “meat and potatos” in the manual to do that. In either case, I will have accomplished my objective which is to educate you about the business hoping that you will not find yourself standing in a court room explaining your actions or standing in the unemployment line because you took assignments from a company that didn’t pay you.
My e-book is not pretty. It’s not fancy. It’s not complete – it never will be.
Why Did I Originally Write This E-Book?
My e-book originated in retaliation to some of the hype found on “get rich” web sites and the almost total lack of real information. I originally wrote the e-book to counter mis-information with real information and hype with reality. Hundreds of websites and other types of advertisements supply a tremendous quantity of unprepared, un-knowing beginners to the industry. There are lots of companies that will do practically anything to get a new contract or beat their competitors. To those companies, Independent Field Service Contractors are a dime a dozen and your welfare has no influence on them. I wrote the e-book to let you know there is always two sides to every story; not just the one you read or hear.
Honest, factual information about this business still is practically nonexistent. Sure, you can find plenty of web sites of companies that are in the business but none that explain the business or it’s pros and cons. A few web sites sell lists of companies to call if you want to get in the business but there is no explanation of what you do or say if you get them on the phone.
My e-book states the facts, offers proof and let’s you decide.
