Background Check / ShieldHub Discount
Most mortgage field service companies require inspectors to complete a specialized industry background check before assigning inspection work.

New York background checks cost more because of New York-specific requirements. New York applicants must select the New York option on the ShieldHub checkout page, and the MFS link still provides a small discount.

HUD Keys
Mortgage field service inspectors are generally expected to have their own HUD key set as part of their basic field tools.
HUD keys are used for property access when a company assigns work involving secured, vacant, or previously serviced properties. Since inspectors work as independent contractors, these keys are considered part of the tools needed to perform field inspection work.
