Free Training Complete: What To Do Next

You have reached the end of the free Mortgage Field Services training. Use the steps below to confirm your completion and continue preparing for field inspection work.

Important: Save or bookmark this page before you leave.

This page includes the follow-up links you may need later for company applications, the background check, HUD keys, and optional advanced certificate training. If you leave without saving it, you may need to go back through the free training to return to this page.

1. Submit the Training Completion Confirmation form below.

This gives you a record that you reviewed the free Mortgage Field Services training course. After submitting the form, you should receive a confirmation email. Save that email so you can forward it or upload it later if a field service company asks whether you completed basic training.

2. Apply with field service companies.

After submitting the form, go to the Apply With Field Service Companies section on this page. Each company has its own application process. When applying, you may mention that you completed the free Mortgage Field Services training and use your confirmation email as your record of completion if the company gives you a place to upload or send it.

3. Consider the optional Advanced Certificate Training.

The paid Advanced Certificate Training is separate from the free beginner training. It provides more detailed instruction and includes a certificate of completion for students who finish the course requirements.

4. Prepare for the industry background check, HUD keys, and onboarding requirements.

Mortgage field service companies normally require the industry background check processed through ShieldHub before assigning work. Do not order a random background check from another website unless a company specifically instructs you to do so.

Because you completed this online training, you will qualify for a $10 ShieldHub discount when you use the link provided below. ShieldHub recognizes this training as part of helping new inspectors better understand basic field inspection work before applying with companies.

You should also have a set of HUD keys on hand before accepting field inspection work, unless you already have them. HUD keys are commonly needed for inspections involving vacant, secured, or lender-maintained properties.

Companies may also require insurance, signed contractor documents, and additional onboarding steps. Requirements vary by company, so follow each company’s instructions carefully when you apply.

Training Completion Confirmation

Use the form below to confirm that you reviewed the free Mortgage Field Services training lessons.

When you submit the form, a copy should be emailed to you so you have a record of completion. This record is called a Training Completion Confirmation. It is not a certificate.

The paid Advanced Certificate Training will be separate and will be the course used for the Certified Mortgage Field Services Inspector certificate.

Apply With Field Service Companies

Mortgage field service companies are the companies that assign inspection work to independent field inspectors.

After completing this free training, you can begin applying with field service companies that use inspectors in your area. Each company may have its own application process, background check requirement, coverage needs, and onboarding steps.

When applying, be professional, accurate, and honest about your experience level. This free training gives you a basic foundation, but each company may still require additional instructions, client-specific procedures, or platform training before assigning work.

Optional Advanced Certificate Training

The free training gives you a basic introduction to mortgage field services inspection work.

The Advanced Certificate Training is optional. It is for people who want more detailed instruction, more field examples, review questions, a final exam, and a certificate of completion.

This paid course includes 79 lessons.

If you would like to see what the Advanced Certificate course looks like before deciding, you can view one sample lesson here:

ShieldHub Industry Background Check

Most mortgage field service companies require inspectors to complete a specialized industry background check before assigning inspection work.

ShieldHub normally starts at $65, but the link below provides the MFS discounted price of $55 for those who have successfully completed the free training course.

New York background checks cost more because of New York-specific requirements. New York applicants must select the New York option on the ShieldHub checkout page, and the MFS link still provides a small discount.

ShieldHub requires selfies and photos of your driver’s license during the background check process. Completing this step on a cell phone is usually easier.

Order HUD Keys for Field Inspection Work

Mortgage field service inspectors are generally expected to have their own HUD key set as part of their basic field tools.

HUD keys are used for property access when a company assigns work involving secured, vacant, or previously serviced properties. Since inspectors work as independent contractors, these keys are considered part of the tools needed to perform field inspection work.

HUD key sets are available through the link below for inspectors who need them. This can save time and help new inspectors avoid trying to figure out the correct keys on their own.

A HUD key set can be useful for work with multiple mortgage field service companies, not just one company.

Support the Free Training

This free training site has helped new mortgage field service inspectors for more than 12 years. I still maintain it personally so new inspectors can learn the basics before spending money or applying for field work.

If this free training helped you, an optional thank-you donation helps keep the site online, updated, and available for the next person trying to learn the business.

This donation is completely optional. It is not required for course access, certification, employment consideration, application review, HUD keys, background checks, or any other service.

No donation is needed to complete the free training.

Any amount is appreciated.
