What the Window Start Date Means

The Window Start Date is the earliest date you are allowed to complete an inspection.
If you go before this date, the inspection will not upload because the photos will show a timestamp earlier than the approved window.

This rule protects you, NMFS, and the client from inaccurate or premature reporting.

Why the Window Start Date Matters

  • InspectorADE will not allow uploads before the window opens.

  • The mobile app may hide inspections until the window start date is near.

  • Clients require photos taken during the correct reporting period.

  • Early inspections can lead to rejections or follow-ups.

How the Window Start Date Affects the Mobile App

If an inspection has a window start date in the future:

  • It will show on the website version immediately

  • It may not appear on the mobile app until the day before the window

  • This is normal

  • Nothing is wrong with your app

This prevents inspectors from accidentally going early.

What You Should Do

1. Always check the window start date before planning your route
If the window doesn’t open yet, do not attempt the inspection.

2. Do not drive out early
Your photos will be rejected. Always wait until the window date.

3. If the window opens today or tomorrow, plan accordingly
Once it appears on your mobile app, the inspection is ready to be completed.

4. If instructions conflict with the window date
Ask NMFS before proceeding.
Never guess.

Common Scenario

You see 16 inspections on the website, but only 14 appear on the mobile app.
Most likely, the missing two:

  • Have a future window start date

  • Will appear later

  • Will not upload early

  • Should not be attempted before their window

Summary

The Window Start Date is a built-in safeguard to ensure inspections are completed during the correct reporting timeframe. Always verify the window before heading out, and trust the InspectorADE app when it hides or delays inspections with future window dates.
