HUD keys are what our clients call them.
They are a set of keys with key codes imprinted on them that open vacant properties without a lockbox, where required.
Most Mortgage companies will pay property preservation crews to change the locks AND install a lockbox. But not all of them do that. Where a mortgage company did not pay for a lockbox, but only the locks to be changed, we use our HUD keys to gain entry.
You may only use your keys a couple of times a month, but you need them just in case.
You can buy these keys from any mortgage field services supply store, but getting your keys through us will ensure you have the proper key codes you need for your state. We buy them in bulk to give the best discount.
These keys are yours. They are considered “tools” by the IRS, and therefore you can use them for all of your other clients as well.
